Merry Christmas (Eve)!
It feels like the season has just flown by. Due to excessive school work, more like things I just left to the last minute, I didn't start Christmas shopping until late last week. But I have to say, the said goodies are pretty nice, especially for such short notice. I have enjoyed baking my family's traditional Christmas cookies, decorating my tree, and listening to Christmas music. We've even been having some lovely brisk weather, which is great considering it's probably the closest we'll get to a white Christmas out here.
Aside from all the fun and special Christmas "fluff", this year I have really tried to focus on the true reason for the season. There has been some emotional events both nationally and personally going on in my life and my family's lives the past month or so. For one, the shooting in Connecticut has struck a cord in most everyone's lives across the country. It is immensely sad and tragic what those families have been going through. I understand, having a little brother that age, and it's just heartbreaking. In my family, we are making some changes that has impacted us as a result of a change that happened to some very dear friends of ours. It is for the better, and these changes are all in God's plan for us, but it can be sad. However with all that's going on, I just want to praise God for all that I have, and for all the people He has allowed me to come into contact with and that He is moving around. In the end, this season we need to remember that all those years ago, God sent His son to earth to be born to a virgin, and to later save all of mankind with His love. I don't want anything, from stress, to gifts, or grief, to get in my way of celebrating Christmas this year. I hope everyone out there has a beautiful and very happy Christmas tomorrow, and remember that Jesus is the Reason for the Season! Love to all,
Shelby
