Grunge Meets Glam

Top: H&M, Shorts: American Eagle, Shoes: Converse All Stars, Shoe Wings: Shwings, Belt: Areopostal, Earrings: handmade, Tights: DKNY

This look was all about the little details and accessories. My particular favorites though, are the Shwings and the sock bun. I saw the little wings and my heart gave a little flutter. I couldn't resist the nerdy, Hermes-ish feel. You know, the Greek messenger god? No? Never mind.
I firmly feel that the person who saw a knit garment created to keep feet warm and decided that'd look amazing in my hair should win the Nobel Peace Prize. It's so simple, quick, and gorgeous.
How To Sock Bun:
1) Make a high ponytail and secure with a hair elastic.
2) Take a clean sock and cut off the toe. You will have a sock "tube"
3) Starting at one end of the sock, flip the ends out continuously, rolling it up to look like a donut. Continue until you are at the end of the sock.
4) Put the sock donut onto the ponytail the same way you slip on a hair elastic
5) Slide the sock donut to about and inch and a half away from the ends of your hair. Take the ends and wrap them around the sock.
6) Using the same motion to roll up the sock, roll the hair onto the sock. In the first couple rolls, you may need to spread the hair over the sock a bit to get it all the way around. If you have layers, just tuck their ends in when the sock rolls down to that level.
7) Continue rolling until you reach your scalp. Done! Finish with a bit of hairspray
:D
